Naturally, Pakistan will want to retain this streak of success at home in the Asia Cup. The fight for Asia’s supremacy is scheduled to begin next September. After this, the ODI World Cup will be held in India in October-November.
Pakistan won the only ODI World Cup in 1992. The team is looking forward to breaking the long drought. In an interview given to Geo Sports, left-arm pacer Afridi said that they are looking at the previous matches of the two tournaments to prepare for the target.
“I hope Pakistan will win the Asia Cup and the World Cup this year. The ODI matches before the World Cup are very important for us which will help us perform well in the global event.”
Pakistan will play the fifth and last ODI of the series against New Zealand today. They will play a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan before the World Cup and Asia Cup next August.
