Nepal has appointed that disturbed personality as the head coach.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced the appointment of Manoj Prabhakar as the coach of the national cricket team on Monday through social media.
The former Indian all-rounder replaced Pubudu Dassanayake, who resigned last July citing ‘personal reasons.
In a statement after taking charge of Nepal, Prabhakar said, ‘There is great interest in cricket in Nepal. There are many talented cricketers in the country. Seeing this, I am looking forward to working with the Nepalese cricket team. Hopefully, I can make them a strong team.
It is not as easy to say in words as it is in action; of course, Prabhakar also knows that. The team topped the group stage of the 2022 T20 World Cup ‘A’ Qualifiers. They lost in the semi-finals. Prabhakar has a long coaching career even though he has not been able to coach any big team so far. He has coached Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh in India’s domestic cricket Ranji Trophy. He was the bowling coach of Afghanistan during the 2016 T20 World Cup.
Prabhakar played 39 Tests and 130 ODIs for India from 1984 to 1996. In the 1996 World Cup against Sri Lanka in Delhi, he was dropped in the next match after conceding 47 runs in 4 overs. Then he retired.
