Kyle Coetzer steps down as Scotland’s captain

To focus on the game, many people are removing themselves from the responsibility of captaining the national team. Scotland national cricket team captain Kyle Coetzer has been named in the squad. He stepped down from the position of captain on his own. The experienced cricketer will continue playing even if he leaves the post.
The 38-year-old cricketer decided to step down before the ICC Cricket World Cup second division match against the United Arab Emirates on Friday (June 3). Cricket Scotland has announced that a new captain will be appointed before the series against Namibia and Nepal in July.

Despite leaving the captaincy, Quetzer said he has no intention of picking up the bat-pad right now. He will continue to play under the new captain. Scotland has played 110 matches under him. Among them is the Super Twelve in the 2021 T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

“I have been thinking for a long time about my decision to step down as captain of the Scottish men’s team and have decided that this will be the last Test I have led against the United Arab Emirates,” Kyle Coetzer said in a statement.

“I’m very happy to lead this team. I’m very proud of where we’ve reached. Even more excited about where this group might go under its next leader. â€?He added: “I am grateful to have been able to impress the players of this team and to help Scotland reach this stage of cricket.

Coetzer has played 73 ODIs for Scotland since his debut. He has scored 2788 runs in 71 innings. Besides five centuries, there are 20 fifties. He has scored 1495 runs in 70 matches in T20. The highest run was 89, the six fifty. He has not played a Test yet.
