

India got off to a good start on Saturday in its mission to regain supremacy. The 6-time champions got off to a good start in the tournament by beating Sri Lanka by 41 runs in the first match.
Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to field today at the outer field of the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. India did not start well in batting. The 2016 champions were in danger after losing two openers for the team’s 23 runs.
Jemimah Rodrigues and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur took the lead in the third wicket. The two put together a 92-run partnership to build India a big collection. Jemimah got out after playing 53 balls for 76 runs. At the end of the innings, India’s innings stopped at 150 runs as they could not score many runs.
In response, the two Lankan openers batted aggressively at the beginning. However, the team suffered the first shock when captain Chamari Athapaththu returned to the team’s 25 runs. After that, they started losing wickets quickly while keeping the wheels of runs going. Hasini Perera continued the fight but could not score more than 30 runs. Sri Lanka was all out for 109 runs with 10 balls to spare.
Off-spinner Delen Hemlata took 3 wickets for India. Pooja and Deepti Sharma took two wickets each.
