In a press release, he explained, “All the full members, media rights holders, and in-stadia rights holders were initially hesitant to commit to hosting the entire tournament in Pakistan. This reluctance stemmed from concerns related to the security and economic situation prevailing in the country.” He further emphasized that the decision aimed to prioritize player well-being and the sport’s interests, ensuring a competitive tournament while preparing teams for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Tournament Outcomes at Stake

The rain could have a significant impact on the tournament’s outcomes. If the remaining matches, including the Pakistan vs. India showdown, are washed out, Pakistan and Sri Lanka would advance to the final, each securing four points.
